Necesitan alimentos para mantenerse fuertes, combatir las enfermedades y reemplazar las reservas perdidas de nutrientes. Las enfermedades infecciosas generalmente reducen el apetito. Tambi\u00e9n suelen aumentar los requerimientos de algunos nutrientes, si: hay problemas de absorci\u00f3n de nutrientes en el intestino; el organismo necesita m\u00e1s nutrientes de lo normal. Una buena alimentaci\u00f3n debe adecuarse a la edad, sexo, peso, talla y actividad f\u00edsica e intelectual de cada persona. Boca.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faringe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Este conducto cumple una doble funci\u00f3n, la de respiraci\u00f3n y la degluci\u00f3n. Durante la degluci\u00f3n la epiglotis se inclina y levanta la faringe: luego se contraen las cuerdas vocales, cierran la glotis y sellan la laringe, por donde pasa el aire. La glotis se abre nuevamente una vez que el alimento ha entrado en el es\u00f3fago. Aqu\u00ed el alimento se convierte en una papilla llamada quimo.<\/p>\n<p>El quimo pasa el p\u00edloro y penetra en el duodeno donde es transformado por las secreciones del p\u00e1ncreas, intestino delgado e h\u00edgado; continu\u00e1ndose su digesti\u00f3n y absorci\u00f3n. El quimo sigue progresando a trav\u00e9s del intestino delgado hasta llegar al intestino grueso.<\/p>\n<p>Desde el es\u00f3fago, el bolo alimenticio pasa al est\u00f3mago.
