In English, most sentences using the conditional contain the word \u201cif\u201d. Many conditional forms in English are used in sentences that verbs in one of the past tenses. In all cases, these sentences are made up of an \u201cif\u201d clause and a main clause. In many negative conditional sentences, there is an equivalent sentence construction using \u00abunless\u00bb instead of \u00abif\u00bb.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During this class we will work on<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Second conditional<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vocabulary on Personal problems&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elements of a letter of advice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u00b4s then start on the review of the first topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"desarrollo-del-tema\">Desarrollo del tema <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As mentioned, there are four types of commonly used conditionals in the English language that are differentiated on the basis of the degree of possibility implied by each of them. The zero conditional structure is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>If + subject + present simple, subject + present simple<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The order of the sentences can change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>subject + present simple If + subject + present simple<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first part could be the conditional (If), then a comma and the result. But if we start with the result, there is no need for a comma (,).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:var(--base-3);color:#b00808\" class=\"has-inline-color\">If water reaches 100\u00baC, it boils.<\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:var(--base-3);color:#b00808\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Water boils if it reaches 100\u00baC.<\/mark><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">zero conditional is used to express facts that are always true or have always the same result, like scientific facts, quantic laws, or general known facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First conditional&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is also called conditional type 1. It is a structure used for talking about<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>possibilities in the present or in the future<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To fully understand it, we have to keep in mind that we have: Conditions and Results<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The type 1 conditional is used to refer to the present or future where the situation is real. The type 1 conditional refers to a possible condition and its probable result. In these sentences the \u201cif\u201d clause is in the simple present, and the main clause is in the simple future. The first conditional has the present simple after &#8216;if&#8217; (conditional), then the future simple in the other clause (result):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>if + present simple, &#8230; will + infinitive<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s used to talk about things which might happen in the future. We are still thinking about the future. We are thinking about a particular condition in the future, and the result of this condition. But there is not a real possibility that this condition will happen. For example, you do not have a lottery ticket. Is it possible to win? No! No lottery ticket, no win! But maybe you will buy a lottery ticket in the future. So you can think about winning in the future, like a dream. It&#8217;s not very real, but it&#8217;s still possible. It is used for <strong>unreal possibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:var(--base-3);color:#b00808\" class=\"has-inline-color\">If I won the lottery, I would buy a car.<\/mark><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Structure:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Past Simple would + <\/strong>b<strong>ase verb<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:var(--base-3);color:#b00808\" class=\"has-inline-color\">If I won the lottery, I would buy a car.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notice that we are thinking about a future condition. We use the Past Simple tense to talk about the future condition. We use would + base verb to talk about the future result.
