For starters, I usually take a look at travel guide books or go online and review possible destinations. Then, I check the costs involved in traveling to that particular place. If I’m going by plane, then I have to compare prices on airfare for different airlines. If I’m traveling by train, then I have to look into train passes or tickets. I also need to locate hotel accommodations. Fortunately, I don’t mind staying at cheap hotels or even a youth hostel. Finally, I try to budget money for meals and other sightseeing expenses. If I plan carefully, I usually have a good time.

What advice can you give to someone who is planning to visit your country?
Could you include information about what to pack, accommodations, places to see?

In this lesson we review the future for plans and relevant vocabulary about plans for vacations.

Let’s start!

Desarrollo del tema

«I never think of the future-It comes soon enough»

Albert Einstein

Presente continuo con significado de futuro

Present continuous

English speakers often use the present continuous tense (subject + «be» = verb -ing) to talk about future arrangements.

A future arrangement is a plan that you have decided and organized with another person.

I’m spending Christmas and New Year with my Mum and Dad.

We’re meeting Susan at 3 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.

Subject + verb TO BE + verb –ing + complement + time expression

Note:

It is important to include the verb TO BE after the subject and before the main verb. The main verb always ends in –ing. There are many arrangements for a trip that you and your friend are taking next week.
