An overview of the application of the ILBM platform in the American Continent, analyzing the lake cases and countries where it has been used, the effects it has had on policies, grass root processes, research promotion and governance structures. In the final part, a series of comments will ponder the applicability and potential usefulness of this adaptable and strategic instrument, to improve basin management in the Americas.
